What We Offer
Therapy
At Psychology South & Wellbeing Services, we provide individual therapy to children, adolescents and adults who are experiencing mental health concerns, or concerns around physical health, family, personal challenges or work-related concerns. We use evidence-based treatments including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Cognitive Processing Therapy, Schema Therapy, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy, Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), amongst others. Our team doesn’t use a “one-size fits all” approach but rather tailors the treatment around the individual to ensure it is personalised according to their needs. We are also able to support couples who are experiencing relationship difficulties
We know that the same thing doesn’t work for everybody, and we know how important it is to get a good fit with a therapist and the type of therapy. As such, we are constantly ‘checking in’ with you to ensure the process is working and you are achieving your goals.
We work closely with your own general practitioner, other specialists, and support people to ensure your care is coordinated and you feel your team is working in line with your goals.
Educational/ Developmental Assessment
Comprehensive cognitive assessments can be helpful in determining areas of strength and weakness in regards to a child or adult’s cognitive ability. Our psychologists are qualified in multiple areas of general cognitive assessment as well as specific learning assessments. Assessments involve several appointments in order to collect background information, an interview, conducting the assessments, and a feedback session. A comprehensive report is then completed which will help provide strategies for schools, parents, and also aid in NDIS applications where appropriate. We are able to provide these assessments on weekdays and also Saturdays to avoid disruption to school attendance.
We offer the following assessments:
- Comprehensive Educational Assessments
- Learning Disorder Assessments
- Intellectual and Adaptive Functioning Assessment
- Gifted Assessment
- Autism Spectrum Disorder Assessment (children & adults)
- ADHD Assessment (children & adults)
Supervision
Dr Rachel Avery, Arthur Li, and Scott Carroll are Board-Approved Supervisors and can provide clinical supervision for professional development for psychologists in addition to individuals seeking clinical endorsement. Supervision can be conducted on an individual basis or in a group setting.
